For centuries, the craftsmen of the small Italian village of Premana, in the Italian Alps, have produced cutting instruments made forged from the iron mines in nearby valleys. Swords, daggers, and more recently knives as well as scissors have been the focus of the town's production.

The artisans of Premax, a cooperative formed in 1974 by local workers, combine old-world craftsmanship with modern technology to create implements of uncompromising quality.
